Nordex has been contracted to deliver 80 MW of wind turbines for a Spanish project under a deal that includes the option to extend the capacity to 120 MW in future.
The German manufacturer said on Friday it will supply its unnamed customer with 13 units of its new 175/6.X machines, currently its highest series-produced turbines designed for low-wind conditions. The hardware will be mounted on tubular steel towers with hub heights of 112 meters (367.5 feet), with its installation scheduled to commence in the spring of next year.
The wind park is slated to be commissioned at the end of 2027. Its operations will be overseen by Nordex under a 20-year premium service agreement.
“The project utilizing our newest N175/6.X turbine technology further strengthens our footprint in Spain and contributes to the country’s continued expansion of renewable energy capacity,” said Francisco Cejudo, director of sales Spain at Nordex Group.
Hamburg-based Nordex has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind turbine capacity globally. It received the first order for the N175/6.X machines, for a 21-MW project in Germany, in March.
