Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $116 million financing package with ACWA Power to support the development, construction, operation, and transfer of a 300 MW wind power project in the Bukhara region, Uzbekistan. The financing includes a $50 million loan from ADB’s ordinary capital resources, $41 million from commercial lenders, and $25 million from the ADB’s Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2 (LEAP 2).
The project, Bash 2, is an extension of the Bash Wind Power project which was cofinanced by ADB in 2023. Furthermore, the project will include 39 wind turbines of up to 8 MW capacity each. The project will also feature a 35/500 kV substation and approximately 1.5 km of overhead transmission lines connecting the facility to the national grid.
In September 2025, ADB and ACWA Power signed a $51 million loan package to support the development of the Nukus 2 wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Uzbekistan. The project will be implemented by ACWA Power Beruniy Wind FE LLC which is owned by ACWA Power. The project involves the construction and operation of a 200 MW wind project alongside a 100 MWh BESS project. Once operational, it is expected to supply 727,980 MWh of clean electricity annually.
